Great stories move us. The Five South Poetry Prize - $1000 awarded for one grand prize winner. Two finalists with honorable mention. Pieces will be selected by Darren Demaree, who will choose one winner and two finalists from a provided shortlist.
ABOUT OUR JUDGE

Darren C. Demaree is the author of fifteen poetry collections, most recently “Burning It Down”, (December 2020, 8th House Publishing). He is the recipient of a 2018 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award, the Louis Bogan Award from Trio House Press, and the Nancy Dew Taylor Award from Emrys Journal.He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Best of the Net Anthology and the Managing Editor of Ovenbird Poetry. He is currently living in Columbus, Ohio with his wife and children.

Your $15 reading fee allows up to 3 pieces per entry.
Word Count: None (max 5 pages)
We allow multiple submissions – each submission is subject to separate submission fees.
Only unpublished work will be considered for this contest – this includes self-published works (digital or print) as well as personal blogs/Medium and other online publishing platforms.
Simultaneous submissions are okay—please let us know and withdraw your entry if you find another home for your writing. We are unable to refund withdrawn submissions.
All English-language submissions are welcome.
All entries are read blind. Please do not include any personal information on your submission.
